What’s Watson Analytics and how can its cognitive capabilities can change the way you make decisions

Watson Analytics is an IBM smart data discovery service powered by cognitive capabilities and available on the cloud. The platform was developed having in mind the idea of using technology to use cutting edge technology to simplify data exploration, automates predictive analytics and enables effortless dashboard and infographic creation.

The technology underlying the product including the ability to process natural language queries is built on Watson technology. Watson is a question answering computer system capable of answering questions posed in natural language, developed in IBM’s DeepQA project.

IBM developed this platform having in mind every business user that understands they should be making better decisions to leverage data and analytics, but they find it too hard. For the most part analyzing big data today requires access to vast infrastructure resources, a team of developers and data scientists and there aren’t enough of the latter. Watson Analytics aims to remove these barriers. First of all it’s in the cloud, so companies don’t have to worry about back-end infrastructure, and is not strictly necessary have a team of developers and data scientists because the software simplifies all the process to any business user.

How doest it work? You can import data from any data source like AdServer, Web Analytics, CRM, ERP, proprietary data source among many other, and ask Watson a question. Watson “question answering” computer system convert that into an Analytics process and returns a business answer.
